Performance: Movements & Impermanence

2min/9minutes excerpt

Music: Armand Amar

Video of Live performance choreographed & performed by Angela Tay

My performance with still and slowly unfolding movements among the collection of ‘Zebra Top Shells’ is a deliberate contrast with current culture’s sense of time. And by randomly changing their positions, I ask questions of the term “belonging” as being staying put in one place all our lives, which is currently untenable globally. What memories and associations are stirred up when the viewers are given enforced quietude to reflect on and to feel the movements unfolding?
